Member Duties : The goal of the Mission: St. Louis is to eradicate poverty through empowering low-income individuals to be leaders in their lives, families and neighborhoods. We focus on our efforts within the city of St. Louis, where there is a 28.8% poverty rate. 3 Summer Associate VISTA members will build the capacity of Mission: St. Louis by effectively telling stories of life change through creative media communications for at least 200 low-income people in St. Louis, MO. As a result of the Summer Associates service, impoverished individuals will increase their income/resources and have access to opportunity that will increase their chance of being economically self-sufficient and contributing to their success in life (breaking free of poverty).
