Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Lead Teacher to join our educational team, dedicated to fostering an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment for children with diverse needs. As a Lead Teacher, you will serve as a key leader in curriculum implementation, classroom management, and student development. Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating educational technology and instructional modifications for students with disabilities
- Lead classroom activities that promote literacy, math skills, communication, social-emotional development, and behavioral health for children across developmental stages
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management strategies tailored for students with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental disorders
- Collaborate closely with speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and other professionals to support individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure effective instructional modifications
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress through standardized testing, formative evaluations, and observation to inform instruction and parent communication
- Maintain detailed documentation of student development, IEP goals, behavioral health records, and compliance with special education law
- Foster strong parent-teacher communication by providing regular updates on student progress and coordinating support strategies
Skills
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood education settings, including preschool or elementary classrooms
- Expertise in special education practices such as curriculum development, behavior management for students with disabilities, and instructional modifications
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorders
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques that create a safe, inclusive learning environment for diverse learners
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral health specialists, and parents
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey student progress and educational strategies to families and colleagues
- Familiarity with educational technology tools used for lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and assessment purposes
- Understanding of special education laws such as IEP requirements and accommodations necessary for students with disabilities
- Experience mentoring or leading other teachers or teaching assistants in a classroom setting
- Knowledge of behavior therapy techniques and strategies for supporting positive behavioral health outcomes
