Job Summary:
Emerald Nursing & Rehab Lancaster is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team! As a Housekeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout our facility. This includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and laundering linens and personal clothing in accordance with facility standards, infection control policies, and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas according to schedule and procedures
Dust, mop, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces as assigned
Collect and launder linens, towels, and residents' personal clothing
Fold, sort, and distribute clean laundry to proper locations
Label resident cloths as applicable
Operate laundry and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently
Follow proper infection control and isolation cleaning procedures
Use appropriate chemicals and cleaning solutions as directed
Report needed repairs or maintenance issues to supervisor
Maintain housekeeping cart and storage areas in a clean, organized manner
Provide respectful and courteous service to residents and staff
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous housekeeping or laundry experience preferred, especially in healthcare
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of equipment
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Positive attitude and commitment to resident satisfaction
Physical/Emotional/Mental Demands:
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
Frequently lifting up to 10-25 pounds
Use hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Exposure to hazardous chemicals such as disinfectants, cleaners, soap, etc.
Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids as required providing resident care
Occasional exposure to microbial bacteria and other infectious agents inherent to care for older adults
