VPK Teacher
We are looking for a VPK teacher who can instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. Individual must be versatile, flexible in age assignment and other responsibilities while providing quality care for the children in our facility.
All applicants must meet state & VPK requirements
Requirements for VPK teachers include:
- 40-clock-hour Introductory Child Care Training
- FCCPC or CDA
- 5-clock-hour (or .5 Continue Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development
- 10-clock-hours of Annual In-service training
- CPR & First Aid certification
- Level 2 National background check
- 2 Years of experience in the VPK program (preferred but not required)
- Clean driving record (preferred but not required)
- Drug Test
- CLASS observation knowledge and experience

Tasks & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order in the classroom.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Teach VPK skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, age appropriate reading and writing, personal hygiene, and social skills.
- Read books to entire classes or to small groups.
- Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.
- Prepare lesson plans, materials for class activities.
- Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discuss them with supervisors
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to children.
- Implement & follow curriculum
- Work hours may vary to meet the needs of the children
Physical Aspect
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand up to 95% of the day
- Able to communicate (stoop and bend) with the child on their level
- Bend to perform various tasks numerous times throughout the day
- Have the ability to move quickly for emergency situations
- Perform all activities with children, i.e. jump, dance, walk, run, etc. for extended periods of time
- Attend staff meetings, in-house training, and other center functions, etc., as requested by the director
- Observe and respond to children’s needs, emergencies, and conflicts that might occur in a classroom, on playground, in bathrooms, or common areas
- Assist children with their personal hygiene and clean up of classroom
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
