FTair is seeking an experienced Avionics Installer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing aircraft avionics systems while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and FAA compliance.
This position requires strong technical knowledge of aircraft electrical systems, the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and installation manuals, and a commitment to producing clean, professional installations.
Responsibilities
- Install avionics systems and related equipment from major manufacturers in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer installation manuals, and company standards.
- Perform complete panel upgrades, wiring, harness fabrication, and avionics installations.
- Inspect, test, configure, and troubleshoot installed avionics systems.
- Diagnose and repair avionics and aircraft electrical system discrepancies.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, installation manuals, service bulletins, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Fabricate, route, terminate, and secure aircraft wiring to industry best practices.
- Perform system operational checks and ensure proper functionality prior to aircraft return to service.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, inspections, and repairs.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel, engineers, and management to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Keep work areas organized and maintain a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Communicate project status and potential delays to management.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of aircraft avionics installation experience
- Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and avionics
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, installation manuals, and technical documents
- Experience troubleshooting aircraft electrical and avionics systems
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations and aviation maintenance standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass required background screening, if applicable
Preferred Qualifications
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (highly preferred)
- FAA Repairman Certificate or FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) is a plus
- Avionics certification from an accredited technical school
- Experience installing Garmin avionics systems, including:
- G3X Touch
- G500 TXi / G600 TXi
- GTN Xi navigators
- GFC 500 / GFC 600 autopilots
- GI 275
- Experience with modern glass cockpit installations
- Familiarity with FAA STC installations and aircraft modifications
