Water Lens has developed a fast, accurate, and easy, system to determine water quality on site or in a lab. In just 3 steps and 10 minutes, our portable system can provide lab-quality results for over 30 critical water quality parameters, which enables companies to greatly reduce expenses and optimize operations. Our systems are being used by companies throughout the oil & gas value chain, across the globe. We have also recently added new products to our portfolio and have many more in the pipeline.
We are seeking a highly motivated and self-directed Laboratory Manager to oversee daily laboratory operations, while contributing to advanced chemistry research and method development. This role is ideal for an experienced chemist who enjoys solving complex problems, managing multiple concurrent projects, and developing innovative solutions. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, wearing many hats, taking ownership of laboratory operations, and driving continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with significant relevant laboratory experience required (over 5 years). A master's degree in Chemistry is preferred.
- Strong foundation in analytical or organic chemistry; some experience with oilfield water chemistry and treatment is strongly preferred
- Experience managing laboratory operations, instrumentation, and chemical inventories
- Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments and troubleshoot technical challenges
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day laboratory operations and maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple laboratory projects simultaneously.
- Perform advanced chemical analyses and experimental work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Develop, optimize, and validate laboratory methods and procedures.
- Analyze experimental data, identify trends, and propose technical improvements or new approaches.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, coordinate maintenance and calibrations, and troubleshoot instrumentation issues.
- Manage chemical inventory, purchasing, and laboratory supplies.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain detailed laboratory documentation, SOPs, and quality records.
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, testing methodologies, and product development.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while keeping projects on schedule.
