Schedule: Day, Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Overview:
- The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- The role focuses on helping students access the general education curriculum, develop academic and life skills, and achieve educational goals in the least restrictive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs and abilities.
- Adapt curriculum, teaching methods, and materials to support diverse learners.
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction.
- Support students in developing academic, social, behavioral, and functional life skills.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Write measurable goals and objectives based on student needs.
- Track and report progress toward IEP goals.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments and use data to guide instruction.
- Implement behavior intervention strategies and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), as appropriate.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, SLPs, OTs, PTs, and other related service providers.
- Participate in IEP meetings, reevaluations, eligibility determinations, and multidisciplinary planning.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and service documentation.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, FERPA, Massachusetts DESE requirements, and district policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Massachusetts DESE Special Education teaching license appropriate to the assigned grade level and severity.
- SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement required.
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and compliance requirements.
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and utilize evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively support diverse student populations.
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Experience in an urban or diverse school environment is a plus.
Work Environment:
- This is a classroom-based position that may include inclusion, resource room, or self-contained classroom settings.
- The Special Education Teacher may collaborate across multiple classrooms or grade levels and should be comfortable with an active role involving student supervision, movement, and hands-on support.
Pay: $60.00 - $64.00 per hour
