The Residential Marine Construction Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all field production activities for residential marine construction projects ranging from $5,000 to $500,000. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the company's quality standards while providing exceptional customer service.
Working in a collaborative environment, the Production Manager serves as the primary link between sales, estimating, field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers. Success in this role requires strong leadership, organization, technical construction knowledge, and the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage multiple marine construction projects simultaneously from contract handoff through final completion and payment.
- Develop and maintain production schedules to maximize crew efficiency and equipment utilization.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and deliveries.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule delays or field challenges.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality, safety, and productivity.
- Ensure projects meet company specifications, contract requirements, and customer expectations.
- Perform final inspections and oversee project closeout.
Crew Leadership
- Supervise field supervisors, foremen, and construction crews.
- Assign personnel based on project requirements and crew capabilities.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and workforce development.
Customer Relations
- Serve as the primary production contact for customers during construction.
- Communicate project schedules, milestones, and changes.
- Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the construction process.
Scheduling & Resource Management
- Plan daily and weekly crew assignments.
- Coordinate equipment availability.
- Work closely with purchasing to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Minimize downtime and maximize productivity across all active projects.
Budget & Cost Control
- Monitor labor hours and production costs.
- Identify cost overruns early and implement corrective actions.
- Review change orders and communicate impacts to management.
- Assist in improving profitability through efficient project execution.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective measures.
- Verify compliance with local, state, and environmental permitting requirements.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect workmanship throughout construction.
- Ensure projects meet engineering specifications and company standards.
- Coordinate punch list completion.
- Continuously improve production processes and quality standards.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate production schedules.
- Review daily reports and production metrics.
- Track project documentation, permits, inspections, and change orders.
- Participate in production planning meetings.
- Assist ownership with forecasting manpower and equipment needs.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of supervisory or production management experience.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong scheduling and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors and visit active construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of marine construction or heavy civil construction experience.
- Strong knowledge of residential marine construction, including docks, piers, seawalls, bulkheads, boat lifts, pile driving, and shoreline stabilization.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Experience with project management software.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
