We are seeking a skilled and experienced MAINTENANCE TECH / TOOL MAKER to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and production equipment to support efficient manufacturing operations. This role will also assist in facilities activities when requested. This role combines precision toolmaking skills with hands-on equipment maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.
Primary Responsibilities: The Tool Maker candidate is required to be experienced in operating machinery to make machine parts and tools. We are looking for a self-starter who has the ability to:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production equipment
- Fabricate, modify, and repair tools, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures to precise specifications
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on machinery and tooling
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Operate machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and shear machines
- Diagnose root causes of equipment/tooling failures and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling design and equipment reliability
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, tool records, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies
- Assist in equipment installation, setup, and commissioning
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred
- 3+ years of experience in toolmaking, machining, or industrial maintenance
- Strong knowledge of machining processes and tool fabrication
- Experience with manual machining equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Toolmaker certification
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment
Job Type and Pay:
- Union position (UAW)
- Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
- $29.40 per hour
