Job Description
The Dredge Tender Operator is responsible for the work associated with the operation of support vessels that work alongside the dredging operation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Secures mooring lines to the dredge, scows, dredge tender or attending plant
- Splices and repairs cables and towing ropes
- Loads and unloads materials from the dredge, deck barges, scows and miscellaneous dredging equipment
- Operates and provides maintenance and upkeep of the vessel on which they are assigned
- Transports crew and materials when necessary
- Perform shifting of the dredge, pipelines, anchors, and support equipment
- Assists with work on the pontoon line, submerge line, scow or attending plant
- Assists with work on the anchors and spud systems
- Abide by company and worksite safety policies to achieve a “Safety First” workplace
Requirements:
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts
- Must be able to work a rotating schedule and live onboard the dredge or vessel
Required Certifications or Licenses:
- TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential
- Boater’s Safety Certification, Licensed Boat Operator preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to tolerate rough seas, normal weather conditions, some climbing, vibrations, heat, confined spaces, stand for long periods of time, and high noise levels
- Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb stairs & ladders
