Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate the completion of MDS assessments in accordance with federal, state, and facility policies.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to gather accurate clinical information for assessments.
- Ensure all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations and maintains the confidentiality of patient information.
- Review medical records and electronic health records (EHR) to verify completeness and accuracy of assessment data.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health regulation policies related to long-term care and disease management.
- Monitor assessment schedules to ensure timely submission of MDS reports for reimbursement and quality reporting purposes.
- Provide training and support to staff on MDS processes, medical documentation standards, and electronic health record management.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and electronic health records management.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and chronic disease management.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, health regulation policies, and confidentiality standards.
- Experience with triage procedures, acute care documentation, and emergency care protocols such as CPR and first aid.
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for managing complex data sets efficiently.
- Leadership experience in nursing or healthcare settings is a plus, demonstrating ability to guide interdisciplinary teams effectively.
