Position Summary
The Audio/Video Field Service Engineer installs, services, and supports AV systems, LED video displays, scoreboards, and associated control systems at customer sites throughout our regional service area. This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone who enjoys varied work, solving technical problems in person, and being on the move.
This is not a remote or work-from-home position. The work is performed on-site at customer locations, and the role requires extensive daily travel throughout the region.
What the Work Looks Like
- Install, configure, service, and troubleshoot AV systems, LED video displays, scoreboards, and control/display systems at customer sites.
- Perform on-site technical and preventive maintenance services.
- Provide event-day support — setup, testing, and live troubleshooting — around game and event schedules.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in the field; escalate complex issues as needed.
- Train and support client staff and service partners on system operation and basic maintenance.
- Document work performed and keep service records, punch lists, and knowledge-base articles current.
- Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, and vehicle parts inventory.
- Participate in ongoing manufacturer and product training to keep skills current.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the team.
Schedule
- Primarily Monday–Friday during normal business hours.
- Requires nights and weekends to support games and events (approximately 10+ weekends per year).
- Occasional last-minute scheduling to meet urgent repair or event needs.
Travel & Location — Extensive Local Travel
- This is a field-based role staged out of Cytherian's Sterling, VA./ regional facility, with daily travel to customer sites across the regional service area.
- Extensive local and regional travel is a core requirement. Expect to be on the road to customer sites most working days.
- Travel is in a company-provided vehicle (optional). You are paid for working time, including travel to and from sites.
- Occasional extended area or overnight travel may be required based on project or event needs.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree plus relevant experience, or equivalent hands-on field experience. Coursework in electronics, AV/broadcast, computer or electronics engineering technology, or a related program is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record that meets Cytherian's driver eligibility requirements (verified by MVR check).
- Comfortable working at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial/scissor lifts.
- Able to lift, carry, and move up to 45 lbs, and to transport ladders, tools, and parts from the vehicle to the work site.
- Strong computer skills: Windows, internet navigation, word processing, spreadsheets, and job-specific software.
- Able to work in varied environments indoors and outdoors, hot and cold weather, and confined spaces.
- Able to work nights and weekends as scheduled around events.
- Effective communicator; professional and composed under pressure; sound independent judgment; team oriented.
- Fluent in English, written and verbal.
- 18 years of age or older.
Preferred
- Prior AV, LED display, scoreboard, or low-voltage field service experience.
- Manufacturer certifications OSHA-10, and aerial/scissor lift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 45 lbs; work at heights; extended periods of standing, climbing, kneeling, and driving.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
