Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to support health assessments and communicate changes to nursing staff.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate documentation within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Support residents’ nutritional needs by preparing meals that meet dietary requirements and assisting during mealtimes to promote independence and safety.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through routine cleaning, sanitation, and adherence to infection control standards.
- Engage residents in social activities and group programs to foster community involvement and enhance quality of life.
- Support residents’ emotional well-being through compassionate communication, social support, and personalized care plans aligned with their preferences.
Experience
- Prior assisted living or long-term care experience is highly preferred, especially within nursing homes or retirement communities.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring, medication administration, CPR certification, first aid training, and manual handling procedures is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation; experience working in group homes or home & community care settings is advantageous.
- Strong caregiving background involving geriatrics, social work principles, or home care services enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive support.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively while maintaining resident safety at all times.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive approach to resident engagement ensure high-quality care delivery across all shifts.
