DINING SERVICES DIRECTOR- GREAT TEAM AND PLACE TO WORK!!!!
A premier senior living community near Beaverton, Oregon is seeking a dynamic and experienced Dining Services Director to lead our dining services team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan menus, develop / follow standardized recipes and food production schedules. Prepare and serve foods indicated on planned menus, using standardized portion sizes and approved substitutions.
- Plan menus and prepare foods for limited, modified and therapeutic diets, according to physician orders and / or diet manual criteria.
- Responsible for ensuring meals are served at scheduled times with correct temperatures and are tasty and appealing.
- Accountable for establishing and maintaining overall service quality / ambiance of dining experience for residents.
- Responsible for informing the Executive Director of kitchen / dining room equipment in need of repair and overseeing the related repair and / or planning how to work around this matter.
- Prepare required department records and report including meal and supply costs.
- Ensure all clean up functions are completed after every meal hour.
- Implement kitchen safety, sanitation, meal preparation and proper storage. Oversee corrective follow-up when necessary.
- Responsible for preparing purchase orders and purchases of all foods and supplies.
- Keep up-to-date spend down sheets reflecting all food, supply and order purchases. Ensure expenses meet budgeted guidelines.
- Responsible for receiving and properly storing food inventory.
- Regularly visit with residents in the dining room to assure resident satisfaction.
- Together with the Executive Director, check Resident Meal Attendance Log regularly for trends requiring follow up.
- Conduct Food Committee Forum, take minutes, and follow up as appropriate with resident suggestions.
- Promptly respond to resident food-related concerns expressed in Resident Satisfaction Surveys.
- Complete all new hire paperwork.
- Responsible for initial orientation and ongoing training of team members
- Set schedules for staff and oversee coverage of all shifts. Check that no overtime is scheduled and schedules are being kept up to-date per state requirements. Maintain monthly filing of schedules in community binder.
- Ensure departmental staffing hours are maintained within budgeted levels and with no overtime.
- Report to Executive Director any problems with staff and exercise disciplinary actions by oral and written communications. File all oral and written communication in personnel files.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position manages team members in the Dining Room and Kitchen.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Must meet all state health requirements including T.B. and must be able to pass states perspective background clearance
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or cooking certificate in related field preferred.
Must have at least 3 years’ experience in preparing meals on a regular basis for large groups, preferably in a healthcare or banquet setting; working with budgets; using and safely operating kitchen equipment such as: commercial steamer, convection ovens, standard gas or electric range and grill, meat slicer, mixer /grinder, commercial dishwasher, cooking utensils, etc.
Certificates and Licenses: Must have food handlers certifications and any state licensing requirements.
Language Skills: Read, write and interpret simple instructions. Must be able to read and understand documents, policies and short correspondence in emails or phones. Ability to clearly communicate to avoid confusion or misunderstanding with others.
Math Skills: Ability to solve basic math problems using adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using common fractions, whole numbers and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to use excellent time management skills. Ability to use good interpersonal skills when interacting with Residents, family members, visitors and co-workers. Sensitive to needs and concerns of residents.
Computer Skills: Ability to use Word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail and the Internet.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment described below represent the activities and surroundings of the positions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The work is typically performed in a cafeteria environment, with a moderate noise level. Frequently lifts up to 15lbs however may lift up to 50lbs. Frequently carries up to 15lbs however may carry up to 50lbs. Requires constant standing and walking. Frequent twisting and rotating head, neck, torso and arms. Occasionally will bend, squat, reach, climb stairs and push/pull up to 40lbs.
You will have the following minimum requirements:
➢ Must have high school diploma or equivalent
➢ Must have at least three (3) years’ experience in a commercial kitchen with knowledge in dining room service and function as well as catering set-up, service, and function

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
