Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our Oncology team at Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA. This travel/contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic outpatient cancer center environment, providing essential support to our healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and medical equipment
- Collect and document patient medical histories and vital signs
- Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with diagnostic procedures
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare staff
- Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols
Must-Have (Requirements)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from AAMA, AMT, AMCA, NCCT, or NHA
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
- Ability to float between units as needed
Preferred
- Experience in an oncology or outpatient setting
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, preferably Epic
