Registered Dietitian
Location: The Maples – Hammond and Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | In-Person
Travel: Regular travel between the Hammond and Baton Rouge locations
The Maples provides residential behavioral health treatment for adolescents with eating disorders, mental health conditions, and other complex behavioral health needs. Through compassionate, evidence-based care, our multidisciplinary team supports each client’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) to provide nutritional services at both our Hammond and Baton Rouge locations. This position plays an essential role in supporting adolescents with eating disorders and other nutritional needs through individualized assessment, treatment planning, education, and therapeutic intervention.
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing clients’ nutritional needs, developing individualized nutrition and meal plans, monitoring nutritional progress, and providing ongoing nutrition education and counseling. This position will also facilitate body image and nutrition-focused groups designed to help adolescents challenge disordered eating behaviors and develop healthier, more sustainable relationships with food.
Working closely with therapists, nurses, medical providers, behavioral health staff, food service personnel, clients, and families, the Registered Dietitian contributes to a coordinated treatment approach that supports recovery and positive clinical outcomes.

Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for newly admitted clients and complete reassessments as clinically indicated.

Develop individualized nutrition care plans and meal plans based on each client’s medical, psychological, developmental, and nutritional needs.

Provide nutritional care, education, and ongoing monitoring for adolescents with eating disorders and other behavioral health conditions.

Monitor nutritional status, meal-plan adherence, weight restoration goals, laboratory findings, and overall treatment progress.

Identify nutritional risks and communicate concerns promptly to the appropriate members of the treatment team.

Provide individual nutrition counseling focused on recovery, balanced nutrition, meal planning, and the development of a healthy relationship with food.

Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate groups focused on nutrition education, body image, disordered eating behaviors, and recovery skills.

Collaborate with therapists, nurses, medical providers, behavioral health professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Participate in treatment-team meetings, case reviews, and discharge-planning discussions.

Provide nutrition education and support to clients’ families when included in the treatment plan.

Collaborate with food service personnel to support menu planning, meal-plan implementation, dietary accommodations, and nutritional quality.

Provide meal support, supervision, and exposure-based interventions when clinically appropriate.

Track client outcomes and revise nutrition interventions based on progress and changing clinical needs.

Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the medical record.

Support compliance with applicable state, federal, licensing, accreditation, and residential-program requirements.

Provide consistent nutritional coverage and support across The Maples’ Hammond and Baton Rouge locations.

Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position.

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field from an accredited program.

Current Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Current Louisiana license to practice dietetics and nutrition, or eligibility to obtain licensure before beginning employment.

Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.

Ability and willingness to work in person and travel regularly between the Hammond and Baton Rouge locations.

Strong clinical assessment, communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Ability to work effectively and professionally within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Eating-disorder assessment and treatment

Adolescent behavioral health

Psychiatric residential treatment

Residential treatment programs

Inpatient psychiatric or behavioral healthcare

Body image and nutrition-focused interventions
