Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration; report changes to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines to ensure confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition
- Use manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods to ensure safe movement and prevent injury
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Document patient progress, observations, and care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or in senior care environments such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities
- Strong patient observation skills with the ability to recognize changes in condition or behavior promptly
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, hospice care, and caring for individuals with autism or developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with care plans, medication administration, patient monitoring, first aid, CPR, and HIPAA regulations
- Ability to assist with mobility using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts and support safe patient transfers using proper techniques
- Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks required in caregiving roles
