JOB DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATIONS:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Must successfully pass state competency and performance test for custodians.

Ability to perform without close supervision.
-
Ability to operation cleaning machines such as buffers scrubbers, vacuums, etc.
-
Understand the essential procedures of cleaning and sanitizing.
-
Applicants who have unsatisfactory evaluations in the past year will not be considered eligible for consideration; applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible for consideration; and, applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations will not be eligible for consideration; addition minimum requirements for applicants not currently employed; applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible for consideration; the ability to perform the job duties and responsibilities of the position as contained in the job description with or without reasonable accommodation.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2026-2027 school year, 200-day contract each year thereafter.

WORK HOURS: 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. or as agreed upon with the school principal

EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: Custodian I

RESPONSIBILITIES: The custodian shall be responsible for:

Maintaining positive work habits

Performing duties efficiently and productively.

Maintaining and/or upgrading skills.

Maintaining personal qualities appropriate for assigned job.

Work Habits:

Is regular in attendance.

Observes assigned work hours.

Complies with Pendleton County School policies governing employment.

Regularly observes established safety procedures.

Regularly stores supplies/equipment in a neat and safe manner.

Exhibits the ability to complete assigned work schedule on a regular basis.

Performance:

Reports to the principal repairs that need attention that are beyond his/her ability to complete.

Requests cleaning materials on proper forms and through proper channels.

Anticipates job responsibilities that need to be performed.

Operates cleaning equipment effectively.

Demonstrates the essential procedures of cleaning and sanitizing.

Performs assigned duties efficiently without close supervision.

Is an effective member of the building custodial team.

Cooperates with professional staff in the identification and correction of custodial concerns.

Demonstrates the ability to follow directions.

Makes repair to school plant, furniture and equipment that are within his/her scope and abilities.

Aware of the regulations (health, safety, fire) impact on the school and assist with the school's compliance to these regulations.
