Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Respiratory screen/chest x-ray rand Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate. Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office background check prior to appointment.
Performs skilled work at the journey level in the installation, repair, and maintenance of complex air-conditioning (A/C), heating and refrigeration equipment. Maintains and repairs air compressors, control valves, exhaust and ventilation fans, air-handler units, electronic and pneumatic controls, chillers and condensing towers. Maintains records of all equipment servicing and repairs.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification, supplemented by completion of a two (2) year technical/vocational A/C and Refrigeration program; minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial/commercial A/C and Refrigeration,
OR
· Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and completion of a four (4) year apprenticeship program in A/C and Refrigeration; minimum of two (2) years of experience in industrial/commercial A/C and Refrigeration.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
The selected candidate for this position MUST:
- Obtain Universal Certification in Transition and Recovery of Refrigerants within six (6) months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience performing maintenance work in an industrial/commercial facility,
- Experience troubleshooting/repairing various electrical circuits,
- Experience using building automation systems/computerized controls,
- Possession of a valid Universal Certification in Transition and Recovery of Refrigerants.
