Job Overview
The Project Scheduler is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project and Jira, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and resource availability. The role involves close collaboration with project teams, stakeholders, and support functions to track progress, manage changes, and communicate schedule updates effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule Development & Maintenance:
- Create, update, and maintain detailed project schedules in Microsoft Project and Jira, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives .
- Define activities, durations, dependencies, milestones, and critical paths.
- Integrate Jira task data into Microsoft Project for unified tracking.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor project progress against the schedule, identifying variances and risks.
- Prepare and present regular status reports, forecasts, and change impact analyses
- Use Jira dashboards and Microsoft Project’s Gantt charts for visual tracking.
- Change & Risk Management:
- Document and manage schedule changes, change orders, and rescheduling events.
- Assess the impact of scope, resource, or timeline changes on the schedule.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent delays interviewguy.com+1.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, team leads, and support functions to gather requirements and update schedules.
- Communicate schedule changes, risks, and issues to stakeholders via Jira updates, email, and meetings.
- Resource & Budget Alignment:
- Support resource allocation and budget planning based on schedule data.
- Ensure schedules reflect realistic workloads and resource availability.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies in scheduling processes and recommend improvements.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures for scheduling workflows
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project (advanced scheduling, resource leveling, critical path analysis).
- Experience with Jira (issue tracking, sprint planning, backlog management).
- Familiarity with Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Methodologies:
- Understanding of project management frameworks (PMBOK, Agile, Scrum).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years in project scheduling with Microsoft Project.
- Experience integrating Jira with scheduling tools.
- PMP, CAPM, or similar project management certification is a plus
- Railway project experience is a plus
Work Environment
- Collaborative, fast-paced project environment.
- May require travel or on-site support depending on project needs.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $84,086.28 per year
