Overview
Join our brand new dental team as a Dental Assistant and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our dental professionals. This position offers the opportunity to work in a friendly environment where your skills in clinical assistance, patient management, and infection control will shine. As a key new member of our practice, you will help learn operations, maintain clinical excellence, and foster a welcoming atmosphere for all patients.
Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to safety standards and radiation guidelines.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and assisting the dental receptionist with front desk duties.
- Follow strict clinical confidentiality policies and adhere to healthcare infection prevention and control standards to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix or Open Dental for efficient medical documentation and record keeping. New to the field assistants will be on boarded a few weeks before our grand opening.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and sterilization procedures to support clinical excellence.
- Experience with dental instrument processing, aseptic technique, and infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards.
- Ability to perform dental X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety protocols.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry techniques and working with children in a compassionate manner.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members including dental hygienists, dentists, and front office staff.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with general medical terminology for comprehensive patient care.
