American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and Epic charting experience at a Level 1 Trauma hospital.
-
Work in the Medical/Surgical unit of a Level 1 Trauma hospital
-
12-hour night shifts from 7:00PM to 7:30AM, three days per week
-
36 hours per week scheduled
-
Six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
-
Holiday coverage required every other holiday
-
Float to similar units as needed
-
Uses Epic EMR for charting
-
Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
-
BLS certification (American Heart Association)
-
Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
-
ASN required, BSN preferred
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Level 1 Trauma hospital experience required
-
Receive bedside shift report and validate safe patient room environment at start of shift
-
Delegate patient care tasks to HCTs and validate completion throughout shift
-
Complete assessments, vital sign interpretation, physician order completion, and admission/discharge documentation
-
Perform hourly rounding and maintain care plan documentation for each assigned patient
-
Administer medications following the 5 Rights: right patient, medication, route, dose, and time

Maintain patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety

Use critical thinking and nursing judgment to identify and act on changes in patient condition
-
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care
-
Facilitate timely admission, discharge, and testing completion for observation status patients
-
Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
-
RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
