Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their shopping needs, including product demos when applicable
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for retail sales transactions and cash handling
- Manage retail math calculations for pricing, discounts, and change to ensure precise transactions
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance customer satisfaction and sales performance
- Maintain organized merchandising displays, stock shelves, and ensure the sales floor is clean and inviting
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when handling inquiries or assisting customers remotely
- Support supervising staff during busy periods, including training new team members on cashier procedures and customer service standards
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems, cashiering, and retail sales transactions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in bilingual environments if applicable
- Customer service expertise with a friendly, professional attitude and excellent phone etiquette
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for cash handling and retail math calculations
- Experience in grocery store or retail environments preferred; familiarity with merchandising, stocking, and product demos beneficial
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in managing customer interactions or team tasks
- Knowledge of upselling techniques, retail sales strategies, and maintaining an organized sales floor
