Job Overview: The Waterpark Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of the waterpark's facilities, equipment, and attractions. This includes working on water slides, pools, plumbing, electrical systems, filtration, and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, smooth, and uninterrupted operations. The role requires troubleshooting technical issues, conducting routine maintenance, and supporting the waterpark’s overall safety and guest experience. The Waterpark Maintenance Technician will work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to ensure the park’s attractions are ready for guests every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance & Repairs:
o Conduct regular inspections of waterpark attractions, water slides, pools, fountains, and other equipment to ensure all systems are functioning properly.
o Perform routine maintenance on mechanical systems, such as pumps, motors, filtration systems, and water treatment equipment.
o Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, performing necessary repairs to maintain safe operations.
o Maintain all waterpark facilities, including attractions, water features, and plumbing, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met.
o Assist with repairs or replacements of defective parts, such as valves, hoses, pumps, electrical components, and other essential equipment.
Water Quality & Chemical Testing:
o Monitor and maintain the chemical balance of pools, spas, and water systems, ensuring water quality meets health and safety standards.
o Conduct daily water testing for chlorine, pH levels, alkalinity, and other water treatment measures, adjusting chemicals as necessary.
o Document and report water quality test results to ensure compliance with local health regulations.
Safety & Compliance:
o Follow safety guidelines and standards for both the operation of equipment and the performance of maintenance tasks.
o Participate in safety inspections and audits, ensuring that all equipment complies with state and local safety regulations.
o Monitor equipment and systems to prevent safety hazards and report any unsafe conditions to the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor.
o Assist in emergency response procedures, including equipment failures, breakdowns, and operational issues affecting guest safety.
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
o Perform troubleshooting and diagnosis of all mechanical and electrical equipment, including water slides, water attractions, and filtration systems.
o Respond to maintenance requests or emergencies, such as broken equipment, malfunctioning attractions, or plumbing issues.
o Maintain operational efficiency by ensuring equipment is repaired promptly and minimizing downtime.
o Maintain an inventory of spare parts and equipment, ordering new supplies as needed to ensure repairs can be made quickly.
Operational Support:
o Assist with setting up and testing new equipment, attractions, or systems for the waterpark.
o Work with the Waterpark Maintenance Manager to plan and execute special projects, upgrades, or improvements.
o Collaborate with other departments (e.g., operations, safety, and guest services) to address guest concerns related to equipment or facilities.
Record Keeping & Documentation:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
o Document water quality reports and maintenance logs for review by the Maintenance Manager.
o Ensure all repairs and maintenance are tracked and completed within prescribed timelines.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in facility maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related technical field, preferably in an amusement park or waterpark environment.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, water filtration systems, and pool maintenance.
Experience in performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and compliance with safety standards.
Ability to use tools, including hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform repairs.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Basic knowledge of water chemistry and water quality standards is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry tools or parts.
Ability to perform physical tasks, such as climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and lifting heavy equipment.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions (hot, humid, and rainy).
Ability to work with machinery and electrical equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Working Conditions:
This position is primarily outdoors and may require work in hot, humid, or rainy weather conditions.
The Waterpark Maintenance Technician will work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure that the park operates smoothly during peak seasons.
The role may also require the technician to work in confined spaces or at heights when repairing or inspecting equipment.
