The second Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all production activities during the overnight shift in a chemical manufacturing facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations while meeting production schedules, quality standards, and plant performance goals. The supervisor provides leadership to production operators, promotes a strong safety culture, and serves as the primary point of contact for all production-related issues during the shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate all secondshift production operations.

Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently and on time.

Monitor batch processing, material usage, equipment performance, and production output.

Adjust staffing and resources to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

Investigate and resolve production issues, process deviations, and equipmentrelated problems.

Ensure all production records, batch sheets, and operational documentation are completed accurately.

Promote and enforce all plant safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

Conduct routine safety observations and inspections throughout the shift.

Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns and initiate corrective actions.

Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company environmental requirements.

Ensure all products meet established quality specifications.
-
Verify operators follow approved SOPs, batch instructions, and work instructions.

Coordinate with Quality Control and Laboratory personnel regarding product testing and approvals.

Respond promptly to quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Supervise, coach, and develop production operators and leads.

Conduct shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, and operational updates.

Provide training and crosstraining opportunities to improve workforce capabilities.

Hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and attendance standards.

Participate in performance evaluations and disciplinary actions when necessary.

Monitor equipment condition and identify maintenance needs.

Coordinate with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime and prioritize repairs.

Ensure operators perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance tasks.

Verify equipment is properly cleaned and prepared for production runs.

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum 3 to 5 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical, industrial, or process manufacturing environment.

Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of chemical batch manufacturing processes.

Experience with production scheduling, process control systems, and manufacturing KPIs.

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and process safety requirements.

Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.

Ability to wear required PPE includes safety glasses, half face respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
