Assistance for Life Care Management Services (AFL) is seeking a Part-Time Occupational Therapist to lead our growing Driving Fitness Program in Wilmington, NC.
This is an exciting opportunity for an OT who is interested in driving rehabilitation, older adult care, and community mobility and wants the autonomy to help shape a dynamic and growing specialty program. You will work one-on-one with clients while collaborating with families, physicians, and certified driving instructors to help individuals make informed decisions about safe driving and community mobility.

About the Role
As the Occupational Therapist for our Driving Fitness Program, you will serve as both the clinical specialist and program administrator. You will conduct comprehensive clinical driving evaluations, communicate recommendations to clients and referral sources, and collaborate with certified driving instructors during the on-road portion of the evaluation.
This role is ideal for an OT who enjoys clinical independence, problem-solving, communication, and working directly with older adults and medically complex clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical driving evaluations using evidence-based occupational therapy practices
- Assess physical, cognitive, visual, perceptual, and functional abilities related to driving
- Review evaluation findings and develop appropriate recommendations regarding driving fitness and community mobility
- Prepare timely, organized, and professional evaluation reports
- Communicate results and recommendations with clients, families, physicians, and referral sources
- Collaborate with certified driving instructors regarding the on-road evaluation and overall determination of driving fitness
- Educate clients and families regarding driving safety, community mobility, and transportation alternatives
- Manage program-related administrative responsibilities, including:
- -Answering calls to the Driving Fitness Program line
- -Scheduling evaluations
- -Communicating with medical providers as needed
- -Faxing reports and correspondence
- Participate in educational outreach with physicians, healthcare providers, senior living communities, and community organizations
- Contribute ideas and leadership to strengthen and expand the program
Qualifications
- Current North Carolina Occupational Therapist license in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years of Health Care Provider experience working with older adults and/or medically complex populations
- Strong clinical reasoning and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing a specialty program
- Interest or experience in driving rehabilitation, driver safety, aging, or community mobility preferred
- CDRS certification or experience in driving rehabilitation is preferred but not required
