Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Steel Fabrication Fitter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling/fitting, metal components according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings. Your expertise will ensure the precision and quality of fabricated steel structures used across various construction and industrial projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced fabrication equipment and contribute to high-profile projects that demand accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble steel components.
- Ability to read and understand weld symbols
- Use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery such as, plasma cutters, oxy torch and welding equipment to shape and join metal parts.
- Perform MIG and FCAW , and welding techniques in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Measure materials precisely using appropriate tools and other measuring instruments to ensure proper fitment.
- Read and interpret shop math, schematics, and fabrication shop drawings for accurate assembly of I beam, square tubing, piping, railing and stair components.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols related to shop operations.
Requirements
- Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in MIG, FCAW, welding techniques; experience with welding preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings accurately.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication machinery.
- Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to metal fabrication and welding practices.
- Familiarity with shop math including basic calculations necessary for precise fabrication tasks.
- Experience operating forklifts is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to interpret technical schematics effectively.
