Project Manager – Commercial AV
Classification: Full-Time / Exempt
Reports to: Director of Operations
About the Role
Our Project Managers are the backbone of successful project delivery. Guided by teamwork, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset, both internal and external, the Project Manager is responsible for shepherding commercial AV projects through every phase — from contract award to final closeout. This role blends technical expertise, leadership, and communication to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This position is ideal for a proactive leader who enjoys mentoring others, solving problems in real time, and keeping complex projects moving forward while maintaining a positive, collaborative team environment as a commercial AV subject matter expert.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own assigned AV projects from contract execution through completion and post-mortem.
- Coordinate closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Accounting to ensure seamless project execution.
- Create and manage detailed project task lists, schedules, and milestones.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders regarding schedules, constraints, technical questions, change orders, site conditions, and installation details.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and submittals to become the on-staff subject matter expert for each project.
- Prepare, review, and manage all required project submittals and documentation.
- Plan materials, coordinate with procurement, and manage installation team assets.
- Lead and manage the installation team, including Foremen and subcontractors.
- Assign work based on technician skill sets and ensure resources are deployed effectively.
- Schedule and lead Project Engineer / Sales Engineer review meetings.
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support when issues arise in the field.
- Ensure quality standards are met by reviewing work performed — QC the QC.
- Train and mentor Foremen and technicians; plan ongoing training and skill development.
- Maintain clear, timely communication with clients, internal customers, and stakeholders — no one gets left hanging.
- Provide daily or end-of-day updates to internal leadership and clients as needed.
- Review pay applications and coordinate with accounting on project billing milestones.
- Notify accounting when projects or project phases are ready for invoicing.
- Schedule and lead post-mortem meetings to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate project records and contribute to internal documentation and knowledge base.
- Continuously train yourself to stay current with AV technology and best practices, enabling you to train others.
What You Bring to the Team
- 2–4 years of post-secondary education preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with a Managed Service Provider or Commercial AV integration company.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with a high level of professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong documentation and process-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Windows OS, macOS, CAD software, and proposal/bidding tools.
Certifications
- Ability to obtain AVIXA CTS certification within 3 months of hire.
- Ability to obtain AVIXA CTS-I certification within 9 months of hire.

Additional Details
Supervisory Responsibility: This role supervises AV Technicians and Foremen.
Work Environment: Professional office environment with frequent field work at client sites.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, use hands and arms, and lift up to 50 lbs on occasion.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
Travel: Primarily local travel with occasional overnight or out-of-area travel.
Work Location: In person – Birmingham, AL 35211.
Relocation: Relocation to Birmingham, AL required prior to start date.
