About the Role
Evokes Lab is a PR, marketing, and content production agency working with a youth sports program in Beaverton, OR, on a brand refresh. We need a messaging strategist to help us build a dual-audience narrative framework: one voice that speaks to parents (decision-makers) and one that speaks to kids/athletes (the actual participants) — without the brand feeling fractured.
What You'll Do
- Audit the client's current branding and identify gaps in how it speaks to parents vs. kids
- Build a messaging architecture with two aligned but distinct tracks: parent-facing (trust, safety, coaching credibility, value, developmental outcomes) and kid-facing (identity, belonging, fun, culture, status)
- Deliver a brand voice/tone guide our content team can execute against
- Advise on how to position the program against larger, better-funded competitors
- Collaborate directly with Evokes Lab's founder; no direct client management required
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in brand strategy or messaging, ideally with youth-facing, family, ed-tech, or sports/recreation brands
- Strong grasp of audience segmentation — you can articulate why a message that lands with a parent falls flat with a 10-year-old, and vice versa
- Writing samples or case studies showing messaging frameworks, not just visual brand work
- Comfortable working async and remote; strong async communication skills
- Bonus: experience helping smaller/local brands compete against larger, well-resourced competitors
Engagement Details
- Freelance, single-client project (potential for future engagements based on fit)
- Fully remote
- Compensation: ( hourly, negotiable based on experience)
- Timeline: [fill in — e.g., 3–4 weeks]
To Apply
Send a resume ([email protected]) or portfolio along with 1–2 examples of messaging/brand strategy work, ideally something showing how you've tailored a message for two different audiences.
Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour
