Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, seniors, and those in need of community-based support. This role involves working closely with residents in group homes, assisted living facilities, and home settings to promote independence, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent observational skills, and the ability to handle various caregiving responsibilities in a respectful and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor residents’ health status by observing and recording vital signs, patient behavior, and overall condition
- Administer medication following care plans and HIPAA regulations while ensuring safety and accuracy
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management
- Provide personal care such as toileting, hygiene assistance, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties as needed
- Follow individualized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to meet each resident’s specific needs
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Document all care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and regulations
- Respond promptly to emergencies or behavioral issues with appropriate first aid or CPR when necessary
Qualifications
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is advantageous
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely (including residents) using equipment like Hoyer lifts if needed
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for residents
- Valid driver’s license is a MUST for this position.
- Flexibility to work split shifts Monday - Friday 615a-730am / 230p-5p
