Job Overview
We are seeking a Dental Assistant to join our Mount Prospect location. The ideal candidate must have minimum 3 months of experience. This role is crucial in ensuring a seamless workflow within the clinic, delivering excellent patient care, and supporting the dentist in providing high-quality services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments including X-ray imaging, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing dental terminology accurately.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners while adhering to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies using patient management software.
- Gather vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care and facilitate smooth clinical workflows.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions related to dental procedures or equipment.
- Support infection control protocols by handling dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and maintaining a clean clinical environment aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
- Coordinate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and ensure efficient clinic operations using patient management software.
Experience
- Minimum 3 months of experience required
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and taking X-rays is required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and oral health enhances communication within the team.
- Excellent organizational skills combined with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously will support your success in this fast-paced role.
