We are seeking a hands-on engineer who can design, build, and troubleshoot custom equipment. This role requires strong Autodesk Inventor skills, experience creating electrical schematics, and the ability to work in the shop operating manual equipment such as a Bridgeport mill. The ideal candidate is comfortable taking a project from concept through assembly and startup.
This is not a desk-only engineering role. You will be expected to design, wire, and physically build equipment.
Core Qualifications (what really matters)
· 3D CAD proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (creating assemblies, drawings, BOMs)
· Ability to produce electrical schematics / panel layouts
· Strong understanding of electrical wiring for machinery (24V control, sensors, etc.)
· Hands-on machining experience with a Bridgeport milling machine (manual mill operation, basic setups)
· Ability to go from concept → design → build → troubleshoot
Nice-to-Have (but very valuable)
· PLC basics (Codesys)
· Knowledge of Barcodes scanners/Vision systems
· Experience with packaging equipment
· Pneumatics & motion systems
· Sheet metal + fabrication knowledge
· Field troubleshooting / service mindset
· 3d Printing Knowledge
Experience Profile
· 5–15 years in custom equipment, automation, or machinery building
· Has worked in a small company or job shop environment
· Comfortable getting off the computer and onto the shop floor
· Has personally built or modified equipment—not just designed it
Personality / Traits
· Self-directed (doesn’t need handholding)
· Practical problem solver (not purely theoretical)
· Willing to wear multiple hats
· Can communicate with both shop techs and customers
What to Avoid (important reality check)
· Pure CAD engineers who’ve never touched a machine
· Electrical engineers who won’t do mechanical work
· Machinists who can’t design
Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
