We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef to join our vibrant team. Pay is hourly plus tips. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi, maintaining impeccable kitchen standards, and ensuring the freshest ingredients are used in every creation. Your expertise will contribute to creating a lively, welcoming atmosphere that celebrates Japanese cuisine and culinary artistry.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision, creativity, and attention to detail
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Select, prepare, and portion fresh ingredients including fish, rice, vegetables, and garnishes
- Develop new sushi recipes and presentation techniques to enhance menu offerings
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely service during busy hours
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and place orders to ensure freshness and availability
- Educate team members on sushi preparation techniques and culinary standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation, knife skills, and food safety practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality
- Strong understanding of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, and presentation styles
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Culinary certification or relevant training in Japanese cuisine or culinary arts preferred
- Experience working with fresh seafood and handling raw ingredients safely
- Passion for culinary innovation and continuous learning in the art of sushi making
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
