About MX3 Fitness
MX3 Fitness is a group of performance-focused gyms in San Francisco and Sonoma committed to helping members reach their peak performance through expert coaching, personalized programming, and a high-energy community environment. With four locations across San Francisco, we're looking for a driven, insightful, people-first leader to oversee operations and grow our presence across the city.
Role Overview
The Local Manager is responsible for the overall success of all four MX3 Fitness San Francisco locations (Castro, Mission, Noe Valley, Lower Haight) — including member experience, staff leadership (trainers/class instructors/maintenance personnel), revenue performance, facilities management, and operational excellence. This is a senior, multi-site leadership role for an experienced individual who thrives in a fast-paced fitness environment; can operate strategically and independently across locations; and is equally comfortable on the gym floor and in the back office. This is a forward-facing role, with you serving as the managerial face of our gyms in San Francisco. You must be able to assume full, proactive responsibility for how the gyms operate, how they look and how people enjoy them. This role is not for someone who waits to be told what to do. It is for someone who can walk into one of the gyms and know exactly what is needed, clearly define a way forward, and engage the proper resources to get the job done. A polished self-starter who can anticipate member needs, follows through and takes pride in our gyms will succeed in this role. Opportunities exist to broaden the role and manage the entire MX3 Fitness five-location business (San Francisco/Sonoma).
Responsibilities
Multi-Site Operations
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all four San Francisco locations, ensuring consistent standards for cleanliness, safety, and an exceptional member environment. Must be able to recognize when something needs attention and proactively take steps to address it, without waiting for upper management.
- Coordinate facility maintenance across all locations, including management of maintenance/janitorial personnel; facility repairs/updating/cleanliness; and sourcing and inventory management of necessary supplies
- Coordinate maintenance of all gym equipment, including fitness machines, free weights, gym accessories and other items that are used by the members on a daily basis. Must have gym knowledge and clearly understand when something needs to be serviced.
- Uphold MX3 brand standards and operational procedures city-wide.
- Conduct daily walkthroughs of gyms and audit each location to identify and address gaps.
- Establish and maintain relationships with all third-party maintenance/janitorial/landlord vendors.
Sales & Revenue
- Drive membership sales, renewals, and retention across all four studios to meet monthly and annual revenue targets.
- Coordinate with marketing lead to develop and execute local marketing initiatives and community outreach in each neighborhood.
- Monitor cross-location KPIs (membership growth, churn, revenue per member) and report to leadership.
- Identify opportunities to grow revenue and expand the MX3 footprint in San Francisco.
Team Leadership
- Hire, train, and manage location leads, trainers, class instructors and operations staff — across all four sites.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
- Foster a unified, high-performance culture across all four San Francisco locations aligned with MX3 Fitness's values.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for staff and operational issues at all locations.
Member Experience
- Build strong relationships with members across all locations, addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly, including responding promptly to all inbound emails, phone calls and any other point of contact with members.
- Champion member engagement through events, challenges, and community-building initiatives.
- Ensure a consistently exceptional experience from first visit through long-term membership, regardless of location.
- Address member issues calmly, professionally and with a sense of urgency.
- Help build loyalty and advocacy among all members.
Administration
- Manage budgets, payroll, and vendor relationships across all four locations.
- Serve as accounts payable representative, utilizing online systems to pay and reconcile incoming bills.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all landlords and property managers.
- Maintain accurate records within our in-house management software.
- Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and employment regulations at each site.
Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years of management experience in a fitness studio, gym, or comparable service environment, with at least 2 years in a multi-site or regional role.
