Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Electrician/Low Voltage Combo Technician to support nationwide Walmart remodel projects. This role involves removing and reinstalling electrical circuits, low voltage cabling, and fiber optic infrastructure inside network cabinets during overnight remodels. Candidates must have strong commercial electrical experience, structured cabling expertise, and an active Journeyman Electrician License in their home state.
This is a road warrior position requiring 90–100% travel, with technicians typically away from home 6–8 weeks at a time. A company vehicle will be assigned during orientation, typically within the first 2–4 weeks. Mileage reimbursement is provided if a personal vehicle is temporarily required. This is a night shift. 9 pm -7am.
Key Qualifications
- Active Journeyman Electrician License in home state
- Commercial electrical installation experience (retail environment preferred)
- Low voltage and structured cabling experience
- Fiber optic termination experience (LC, SC, MPO/MTP preferred)
- Experience working in IDF/MDF rooms and network cabinets
- Experience terminating CAT5/CAT6 cabling
- Ability to work overnight shifts (approximately 9:00 PM–7:00 AM)
- Willingness to travel 90–100% nationwide
- Ability to work safely in active retail environments
Key Responsibilities
- Decommission and reinstall electrical circuits within network cabinets
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cabling
- Perform fiber terminations with minimal supervision
- Remove and reinstall structured cabling during store remodels
- Work inside telecom closets, IDF/MDF rooms, and network racks
- Support remodel schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Travel extensively to Walmart locations across the United States
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to complete projects on schedule
