Job Summary:
New Com Metal Products is seeking a skilled Turret Punch Press Operator with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain a single punch press machine (Tailift 1500) to produce precision parts, while also contributing to assembly and quality control tasks. The role requires flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the punch press machine to produce parts according to specifications.
- Perform setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of the machine.
- Insert, align, and lock punches and dies in turret using hammer, shims, feelers, micrometers, and setscrews
- Align work piece to scale and end gauge on machine and clamp it to machine table
- Maintain the machine, including regular cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure parts meet required standards.
- Assist in assembly tasks, including part fitting and finishing as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Utilize GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles to ensure accurate production.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines.
- Document production data and report any issues to supervisors.
- Be willing to become forklift operator certified if not already.
- Be available for overtime work during peak production periods.
Qualifications:
- A positive attitude and ability to be a great teammate.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Punch Press Operator in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining a punch press machine and related tools.
- Experience with assembly processes and quality control procedures.
- Knowledge of shop mathematics.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Willingness to work overtime when required to meet production goals.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for machine maintenance.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with CNC punch press or similar automated equipment.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Understanding of GD&T
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Pay:
Top end of the pay scale is for highly experienced, driven, exceptional candidates that can work with little to no oversight.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.50 - $35.00 per hour
