The SLO Beauty College, serving the central coast community for 25 years,is seeking a licensed Cosmetology Instructor who has a positive attitude, is passionate about our industry, and is a strong communicator with excellent technical skills and a proven success in salons.
Job Responsibilities and Qualifications:
· Punctuality and Attendance (an instructor must be an example for the students)
· Prepare lesson plans according to State and Federal guidelines
· Perform and instruct all practical procedures according to State and Federal guidelines
· Monitor /record student progress in order to assure students understand the lessons
· Monitor student attendance (attendance is a substantial portion of the student’s grade)
· Maintain current/accurate student records (attendance, exams, progress reports…)
· Stay informed of current industry standards and changes in fashion
· Maintain a safe and organized lab
· Attend quarterly faculty meetings
· Achieve twelve (12) hours of continuing education annually, including a minimum of four (4) hours in teaching methodology
· Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records
· Communicating frequently with students and colleagues
· Working hands-on with students in a variety of courses and application
· Is responsible to report all issues regarding school operations to the school manager. Such as: Work issues, Safety issues, Student attendance/behavior
Skills/Competencies Required:
- Current California Cosmetology License
- 3 years full-time experience working as a Cosmetologist
- Excellent organization, coaching, and communication skills
- Skills in supervision, teamwork, documentation, and return on investment
- Solid work history with verifiable references
- Passion for the beauty and barbering industries
- Honesty and professionalism
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
