JOIN OUR TEAM AS A PATIENT ADVOCATE / LEGAL LIAISON!
Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?
Every patient who walks through our doors has rights, and someone has to make sure those rights are protected in practice, not just on paper. That is this role.
As Patient Advocate / Legal Liaison, you are the person patients and families come to when they need to be heard. You are also the person the CEO and Risk/PI Director rely on to keep our quality, compliance, and accreditation work running smoothly. This role has real influence over how patients experience their care.
Respond to any patient requesting an advocate within the first working day of the request
Contact anyone filing a grievance within the first working day after it is received
Investigate grievances, make sure appropriate action is taken, document the outcome, and close the loop with the patient or their representative
Maintain the grievance log
Keep patient rights and responsibilities posted, answer patient questions about their rights, and make sure those rights are respected
Quality and Performance Improvement
Prepare, coordinate, and document patient satisfaction surveys
Maintain records of reviews, evaluations, and process improvement activity
Participate in committee and department meetings where performance improvement work happens, and share data with the groups assigned by your department head
Support facility-wide quality and performance improvement goals
Accreditation and Regulatory Support
Support the CEO and Risk/PI Director through Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and state surveys, including data collection and CMS IPF submissions
Receive and log all correspondence from official and accrediting agencies, and draft responses for administration review
Prepare and submit required reports, and notify leadership of all compliance issues
Legal Status and Court Coordination
Coordinate the process for determining and maintaining accurate legal status for all patients
Track every patient on voluntary and involuntary status
Complete involuntary paperwork within Georgia's required timeframes, including required signatures and court submission
Maintain complete court documentation and records of actions taken
Getting this right protects patients and keeps us in good standing with the courts. It takes someone organized and comfortable working to hard deadlines.
