Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control standards
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while ensuring patient safety and proper documentation
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during procedures
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation and records
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with current licensure in the applicable state or region
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control protocols
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus
- Skilled in dental radiography including X-ray procedures; experience with 3D scanners is desirable
- Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry practices and pediatric patient management
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times
- Ability to perform clinical duties such as chairside assisting, taking medical imaging, vital signs measurement, and maintaining aseptic technique
