The Role
FotoKem Industries Inc. is seeking a Dailies Operator/Colorist to support dailies work under our Creative Service division in New York. The Dailies Operator/Colorist will be responsible for supporting file-based dailies work. They will be responsible for applying LUTs, CDLs, scene-to-scene grade matching, and working closely with production and post teams to ensure timely delivery of processed deliverables on a daily basis. This position requires a thorough understanding and proven knowledge of color correction as it relates to the dailies process workflows. This position is ideally suited for a highly motivated individual with experience with various non-linear platforms and hands on production experience. Digital camera knowledge is important as this individual will be dealing with the latest in file-based technologies. The Dailies Operator/Colorist must be extremely organized and artistically driven, with the proven ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of process simultaneously.
The Dailies Operator/Colorist will report directly to the Dailies Operations Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate FotoKem’s nextLAB software and hardware solutions to process digital dailies.
- Picture and audio synchronization.
- Checking reports and making sure all metadata is accurate.
- Creating dailies deliverables from file-based acquisition devices.
- Archive camera and sound original assets.
- Manage data infrastructure and troubleshoot as needed. Track and report bugs or crashes in software/hardware.
- QC both processed dailies and OCN to identify issues in camera original and rendered media.
- Process client footage according to the specifications provided by dailies producer.
- Apply onset color or make manual color adjustments as required.
- Abide by strict security for client’s intellectual property.
- Ensure timeliness and technical accuracy of every client delivery.
- Communicate with dailies producers, dailies operations manager and clients on a daily basis throughout. the duration of a project to ensure quality of work and timely responses exceed client satisfaction.
- Adjust work schedule, where necessary, and be open to nights, weekends, and travel work.
- Other duties, as required and assigned.
Requirements- Experience and Skills
- The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2 years industry experience, excellent communication skills, and be detail oriented.
- Familiar with Dailies processes including data management, sound & picture sync, logging, transcoding.
- Previous experience with Dailies platforms is a plus - i.e. Davinci Resolve, Colorfront OSD/EXD, MTI Cortex.
- Experience with Editing platforms including but not limited to Media Composer, Final Cut X, Premiere.
- Clear understanding of video standards, transcoding software, framerates, resolutions, and aspect ratios.
- Candidates should have a basic understanding of digital cinema cameras and systems such as RED, ARRI, SONY, RAID Storage, Timecode, Alexa, Venice, VariCam etc. and Post workflows for feature/episodic projects.
- Established understanding of color correction and its function in dailies (credit list outlining previously worked projects is a plus).
- Experience working with some of the latest color grade platforms, such as Resolve, OSD, EXD, Baselight, Daylight. Knowledge in Filmlight Daylight, Colorfront, Davinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
- Post Production knowledge is required, including an understanding of acquisition formats, codecs and frame rates.
- Must be punctual, reliable and able to work independently without constant supervision. Emphasis on following procedures diligently and follow-through on assigned tasks.
- Able to work independently with little to no supervision, and capable of communicating technical issues with senior staff and supervisors.
- Knowledge of Mac/Windows operating systems.
- Strong attention to detail, especially visually.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Pay: $30.00 - $55.00 per hour
