We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our Assisted Living community in New Jersey. In this role, you will be responsible for safely administering medications to residents and providing supportive care in accordance with New Jersey Department of Health regulations and facility policies. The Certified Medication Aide plays a vital role in promoting resident safety, dignity, and independence while supporting licensed nursing staff.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications to residents in compliance with New Jersey Assisted Living regulations, physician orders, and facility policies.
- Accurately document medication administration and observations in the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
- Observe residents for medication side effects or changes in condition and promptly report concerns to licensed nursing staff.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed while encouraging independence.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure medication cart and storage areas.
- Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team.
- Support compliance with state and federal regulations and assist with survey readiness.
- Respond promptly to resident needs and emergencies according to facility protocols.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification approved for New Jersey Assisted Living.
- Active CNA certification (if required by facility or state guidelines).
- Previous experience in an assisted living or long-term care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration practices and resident care standards.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
- Compassionate, professional, and resident-focused approach to care.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents as needed throughout the shift.
