Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the successful planning, execution, and completion of large-scale commercial construction projects. This role works closely with the Senior Project Manager and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience in commercial construction, strong knowledge of MEP systems and interior finishes, and the ability to coordinate multiple trades in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Project Manager with all phases of commercial construction projects, from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Coordinate and monitor project activities to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
- Support the management of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems and interior finish work, including carpentry and painting.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain project progress and resolve issues.
- Track and maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and daily reports.
- Conduct job site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, clients, architects, and engineers.
- Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and cost control.
- Identify potential project risks and help implement effective solutions to keep projects on track.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in commercial construction project management or a related role.
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial construction projects.
- Working knowledge of MEP systems and interior finish trades such as carpentry and painting.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Sage, or similar construction management software is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a commercial general contractor.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and cost control.
- Familiarity with commercial construction safety standards and best practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on active commercial construction sites.
- Ability to climb ladders, walk uneven terrain, and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to safely navigate construction environments while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay: $70,470.19 - $85,232.91 per year
