Medical Assistant – Chandler Clinic

Position Summary
LoveJoy Hormone Clinic is seeking an experienced and dependable Medical Assistant to join our Chandler clinical team.
This is a hands-on clinical position for someone who is confident in patient rooming, venipuncture, labs processing, chart preparation, and supporting healthcare providers throughout the patient visit. The successful candidate will be organized, compassionate, comfortable working in a fast-paced clinic, and committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience.
Occasional travel to our Mesa clinic may be required to assist with staff coverage. This is expected to be rare and is not a regular floating assignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and room patients in a professional, compassionate and efficient manner.
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical histories, medication information and other required clinical information.
- Review and prepare patient charts before appointments to ensure that required documentation, laboratory results and clinical information are available to the provider.
- Perform venipuncture and collect, label, process and prepare blood specimens for laboratory testing. However, we have an onsite contracted lab facility. This type of work would be rare at our Chandler facility.
- Maintain accurate laboratory logs and assist with follow-up on outstanding laboratory results.
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms before patient visits.
- Assist providers with clinical procedures within the Medical Assistant’s approved training, competency and scope of responsibility.
- Clean, disinfect and restock examination and procedure rooms between patients.
- Support efficient patient flow and communicate delays, concerns or clinical needs to the appropriate team member.
- Answer patient questions within the scope of the position and promptly route clinical questions to the appropriate provider.
- Accurately document patient information and clinical activities in the electronic medical record.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Follow infection-control procedures, standard precautions and bloodborne-pathogen safety practices.
- Properly handle and dispose of needles, sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with OSHA requirements and clinic policies.
- Monitor clinical and laboratory supplies and notify the appropriate team member when items need to be reordered.
- Assist with scheduling, telephone communication and other administrative duties when needed to support clinic operations.
- Complete required company training and maintain required certifications and competencies.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of recent experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
- At least one year of hands-on phlebotomy and venipuncture experience.
- Graduation from a recognized Medical Assistant training program or other documented training that meets applicable Arizona requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain blood specimens safely and successfully.
- Experience preparing patients and charts for provider visits.
- Understanding of specimen labeling, processing, storage and laboratory procedures.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, infection-control practices, OSHA standards and the safe handling of blood and biohazardous materials.
- Strong patient-service and interpersonal skills.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple patients and tasks accurately.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality and follow-through.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a clinical team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant credential.
- Two or more years of Medical Assistant experience.
- Experience working in hormone replacement therapy, women’s health, primary care, wellness, endocrinology or a related outpatient specialty.
- Experience with eClinicalWorks or a comparable electronic medical record system.
- Experience assisting with in-office procedures and maintaining procedure-room readiness.
- Current Basic Life Support or CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain standing or moving for extended periods during the workday.
- Ability to safely position patients and handle clinical supplies and equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements associated with computer use, specimen preparation and clinical procedures.
