Harmony Hill School (HHS) is a private, non-profit organization providing education, residential care and day treatment services to adolescent males. Our beautiful campus is located in Glocester, RI, just a 20-30 minute commute from many towns in the RI, CT, MA area.
As a Weekend Cook, you will be part of the Food Service team that provides nutritious, well-balanced meals to students and staff. This is a 30 hour/week position with a competitive pay rate and full benefits, including health/dental/vision insurance and a generous time off plan.
The initial 30 hour/week work schedule for this position will be 7am-2:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays then 11am-6:30pm on Sundays and Mondays. Flexibility to work different days/hours as needed to cover for vacations is required.
Job responsibilities include:
- Follow established menus, recipes, and any special dietary instructions to prepare, cook and serve daily meals and snacks to students and staff.
- Adhere to department guidelines to ensure the cleanliness, safety and organization of kitchen, food storage, and cafeteria area.
- Participate in various activities related to kitchen inventory, food deliveries, and quality control.
- Engage professionally with youth and staff to provide a positive customer service experience.

- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of youth, families and professionals. Possess a knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- SafeServ/Food Safety Handler certification (or willingness and ability to obtain);
- Previous cooking experience required, experience in an institutional or commercial food service setting is preferred;
- Physical requirement of this position include: frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending and regularly lifting of up to 20 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally).
- Must be able to successfully complete required criminal and child abuse/neglect background screening and to maintain a favorable record.
