Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patients’ health status by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition or behavior
- Support medication administration following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper food safety standards are maintained
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks including laundry, tidying living spaces, and sanitizing equipment
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately to ensure seamless communication within the care team
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being and reduce feelings of isolation or distress
Qualifications
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing home settings, or group homes is highly preferred also bilingual Spanish.
- Certification or training in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance or dementia care are advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory care needs
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing signs of health deterioration or behavioral changes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful, person-centered care that promotes independence and dignity
