Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning fresh produce and other food items according to recipes and standards
- Assist with cooking tasks such as grilling, sautéing, and assembling dishes under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with food safety standards at all times
- Support menu planning efforts by preparing ingredients needed for upcoming meals and special events
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, including storage, temperature control, and sanitation practices
- Support catering and large-scale meal preparation efforts by assembling plates or buffet items efficiently
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service delivery and uphold high-quality food presentation
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings demonstrating strong kitchen skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques
- Skilled in knife handling, meal preparation, and basic culinary techniques
- Familiarity with menu planning and food service operations preferred
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in catering or serving is a plus but not required
