We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, patient records, and insurance processing. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent front desk customer service
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Collect payments, process medical billing, and handle collections efficiently
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including medical history forms and treatment plans
- Assist with intake procedures and ensure proper documentation review before appointments
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist patients with inquiries
- Perform data entry tasks such as CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and other medical administrative support functions
- Facilitate communication between patients and clinical staff regarding care plans and appointment details
- Ensure the clinic’s administrative operations run smoothly by managing filing systems, medical records, and office supplies
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office role within a dental clinic preferred
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management systems
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Meditech is highly desirable
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10-key typing)
- Knowledge of insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures including Medicare billing practices
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities are a plus
- Ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Previous clinic or medical office experience is preferred; hospital experience is a plus
