Staff Tax Accountant
The Opportunity:
MB Consultants PLLC is seeking a Staff Tax Accountant to join our growing team in the Twin Cities northwest metro area. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex tax planning, compliance, and reporting processes across diverse industries. You will regularly work side by side with our Partners, Principals and Managers to develop relationships as a trusted professional with our clients. The Place:
The firm is well-established and respected in the area with our main office located in Monticello, and a significant office presence in Elk River and Sartell. We provide professional services to our clients, with emphasis on income tax and estate-succession planning and compliance services. Our clients represent a wide range of medium to small sized family-owned or privately-held businesses, as well as individuals, trusts and estates. Several local not-for-profit entities are also among those we serve. You can expect to be mentored and at the same time develop mentoring skills.
The Individual:
We are looking for an experienced tax associate who is personable, motivated, detail oriented, appreciates a challenge and desires to help others. An individual with a CPA or Enrolled Agent status, or a strong desire to obtain a CPA or Enrolled Agent status, is preferred.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor or associate’s degree.
Prior accounting experience.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts and non-profit entities with precision and compliance in mind
- Assist clients with accounting tasks such as account reconciliations and QuickBooks assistance
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, balance sheets, and prepare tax-basis financial statements
- Monthly and quarterly accounting work
- Assist with reviewing and responding to tax notices and correspondence
- Perform tax research as needed
- Prepare tax projections and tax-planning calculations
- Meet with clients and maintain client relationships
- Manage tasks independently
- Monitor various projects and manage workflow
Skills:
- Experience with public accounting practices focusing on tax reporting for individuals and business entities
- Intermediate knowledge of tax compliance and tax law
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, or similar platforms for bookkeeping
- Experience with tax preparation, depreciation and general ledger software
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Solid understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliations and financial statement preparation
- Excellent communication skills
- Analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy
- Strong emotional ownership of your work
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
