Needham Extended Day Program is a dedicated non-profit organization providing before and after school care for children attending Needham Public Schools. Our programs are located within each elementary school, fostering a safe and enriching environment for young learners.
Drama Teacher
Schedule: 30 hours per week
NEDP is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and experienced Drama Teacher to lead theater programming for students in grades K–5 across our five school-based programs.
The Drama Teacher will develop and lead engaging, inclusive theater experiences throughout the school year, culminating in full-scale theatrical productions. Through acting, singing, movement, technical theater, and collaborative experiences, the Drama Teacher will help children build confidence, creativity, communication skills, and a sense of belonging.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead age-appropriate drama programming for students in grades K–5.
- Select and develop theatrical productions appropriate for elementary-aged students.
- Coordinate all aspects of productions, including auditions, casting, rehearsals, blocking, music, choreography, costumes, props, sets, and technical theater.
- Develop rehearsal schedules and communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and program leadership.
- Create an inclusive environment that provides meaningful opportunities for children of varying ages, abilities, and levels of theater experience.
- Use positive teacher language and effective classroom management strategies to support student engagement and behavior.
- Manage programming, productions, materials, costumes, and resources across five school-based sites.
- Collaborate with Site Coordinators, educators, and program leadership to ensure successful rehearsals and performances.
Qualifications
- Experience in theater, drama education, performing arts, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children strongly preferred.
- Ability to plan and manage theatrical productions from initial concept through final performance.
- Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
- A creative, flexible, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger team.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between NEDP school sites.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
