JOB SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse-Lead Medical Coordinator (RN/LMC) is responsible for supervising the ORR Medical program including assessing, facilitating, and monitoring all components of client medical services. The LMC is responsible for overseeing the Infirmary department staffing and well being of clients in program, with the emphasis on disease prevention, health wellness, and maintenance. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with county, state and federal guidelines and laws as well as all policies and procedures implemented by Rancho San Antonio. In addition, oversee the functions of the Infirmary department such as medical services and assessment, coordination of treatment, referral to physicians, dentist, and other medical providers. Provide services from a trauma informed perspective. Maintain electronic health records and collaborate with treatment team and provider community to ensure youth are receiving proper medical care. Ensure compliance with state and county requirements.
RSA has developed an effective and safe medication management system that includes, planning, storage, ordering, preparing, and dispensing, administration, monitoring, and evaluation. Provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive therapeutic intervention within scope of practice to youth and families in collaboration with the Child Family Team (CFT). Utilization of the Integrated Core Practice Model (ICPM) in the treatment of the youth. Trauma Informed Care (TIC) includes primarily the use of RSA’s selected Trauma Informed Care model of Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) model.
JOB DUTIES:
- Performs and coordinates clinical care as follows: maintains medical supplies and prescribed medications, follows standing orders, State licensing, and RSA policies and procedures for providing over the counter medications to minors, assist in preparing youth for examinations, and any other medical tasks as needed.
- Coordinates and supervises medical staff and is responsible for evaluation of their performance and skills.
- Provides direct patient care, including assessing health conditions, administering medications, performing TB tests/explaining test results, monitoring vital signs, and creating and executing patient care plans.
- Responsible for following medication management policy and procedures at the facility and reviewing and monitoring medication management.
- Learns and utilizes ARC trauma informed care model interventions appropriate to role and scope of practice (for example: Attunement, Engagement, and Resiliency Building, etc.).
- Serves to role model the use of ARC principles, Integrated Core Practice Model (ICPM), and use of the Child and Family Team (CFT) interventions.
- Ensures all infection control, OSHA, CDC, and State licensing guidelines are followed and maintained in all departments.
- Creates strategies and action plans for the prevention of infectious disease outbreaks. Investigates possible outbreaks and coordinates proper resources in response into any confirmed outbreak.
- Maintains and implements any recommendations given by the Public Health Departments, CDC, and other federal and county departments.
- Facilitates and/or coordinates meetings, training, and presentations for professional development of the medical staff and other staff as needed.
- Provides quality assurance for the medical department to include the following (not limited to): Oral, written, and statistical reports, presentations, auditing of electronic medical records, maintaining all medical department electronic systems and all medical documents completed and provided by the medical department.
- Provides health management, effective communication, and leadership in the execution and direction of quality services to youth, and when applicable staff.
- Communicate, coordinate and schedules all psychiatric and psychological appointments for youth when referred by clinical team.
- Communication with therapists, direct care staff, parents, school administration and physicians relating to health and medication issues.
- Develop and expand medical, specialty and dental services with local providers.
- Coordinating the staffing of medication errors, significant incident reports and other incidents as needed.
- Immediately respond and attend to individual emergency medical needs.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality (including HIPAA), and ethical standards enforced by RSA.
- Provide program support by submitting TARS and auditing portal/charts ongoing.
- Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation and billing, knowledge of upkeep of Medi-Cal status on residents, communication with outside medical providers and services.
- Attend training as mandated.
- General understanding of the ADP system including daily monitoring.
- Additional allied responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited Nursing Program. Must have passed the RN exam and obtained licensure from the State Board of Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care.
- At least 2 years’ experience scheduling and coordinating appointments.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English; bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
- Ability to have a flexible schedule to accommodate occasional after-hours services, including evenings and weekends, sometimes with limited notice.
- Previous supervisor experience preferred.
- Experience working in shelters with unaccompanied children is preferred.
- Experience working with and maintaining electronic client databases.
- Must have a valid California driver’s license and good driving record.
- Possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certificates.
- Have and maintain Professional Assault Crisis Training (ProACT) and/or Crisis Prevention Intervention
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
In the course of performing this job, the incumbent must be able lift to 40 pounds. Will also require bending, stooping, filing, frequent sitting, twisting, typing, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Occasional traveling, driving, walking, standing, grasping, pulling, pushing, and reaching. Pay: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
